The Delaware Charity Challenge is a unique fundraising and athletic competition designed to give organizations, families, and individuals a fun way to raise money and awareness for their favorite causes. Teams that enter may designate any charity they want as a beneficiary of funds they raise as a team. Part of the proceeds from the race registrations and the race sponsorships will go into a prize pool that will be distributed among the charities that raise the most money and to the charities of the teams that win the individual race events on the day of the Delaware Charity Challenge.

Less than 8 Weeks Before the 2nd Annual Delaware Charity Challenge 5K & Adventure Challenge Relay (April 30, 2016)!

There are less than 2 months before the 2nd Annual Delaware Charity Challenge 5K and Adventure Challenge Relay! This year's spring races will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Brandywine Creek State Park in Wilmington. So far, 10 teams have combined to raise more than $4,400 for different nonprofits, and we expect these and many more individuals, families, organizations, and their teammates to continue to join the competition and raise money for their favorite causes.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be posting some exciting news about the various great prizes our teams are competing for this spring. Many of you already have read about the Wilmington Blue Rocks prizes that are being offered to our nonprofit teams in the race, and we will be announcing the details for some more soon for all teams, including those from WJBR and DETV. We also will be announcing a March mini-fundraising competition for the current teams in the competition later this month, and will be sending emails to the captains about that before the end of next week.

For those of you interested in the Adventure Challenge Relay, the University of Delaware Sport Event Management Class is hard at work putting everything together and we will be publishing information about that very soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out the video they put together for us. (Note: due to the location change to Brandywine Creek State Park, there is no ziplining or canoeing this year).

To sign up or join a team, see below or visit challengede.eventbrite.com or www.delawarecharitychallenge.com. Also, be sure to like and follow our Facebook page to get the latest info and updates.

Spring 2016 Race to Raise Update

Ten teams have collectively raised $4,440 for different nonprofits (as of 1:30 p.m. 3/8). Currently in first place with $2,825 raised for Ministry of Caring is Team Veritext. In second place with $1,035 raised for Second Wind Fund of Boulder County is Team Second Wind Fund. In third place is Team Meals on Wheels Delaware with $350 raised for Meals on Wheels Delaware. Congrats to these and all of our teams raising money so far in the competition. There are still about two months left in the fundraising competition so there is plenty of time to jump in and raise lots of money for your favorite cause.

To view the teams and their current fundraising status, as well as to donate to any of these teams and their favorite causes by clicking on the blue donate button on the main page or any of the individual team pages here: www.crowdrise.com/challengeDE.

I want to race in the 5K! How do I sign up?

Click on the image to enlarge it.

Very easy: Go to challengede.eventbrite.com. You can join any of the teams already in the competition simply by clicking on the join a team option and typing in the team's name (you can see their team names here). If you wanted to create a team, select that option instead. Sign up for yourself or for as many runners as you would like and complete the registration. After you register, you will be taken to Crowdrise, where you will sign up to join your team fundraising page (if you're joining a team) or create a new one (if you are creating a team).

Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or visit our registration page for more information.

We will have information about signing up for the Adventure Challenge Relay posted soon. Stay tuned.

Check out the cool video our friends at University of Delaware's Sport Event Management Class have put together! We will be posting more information about the Adventure Challenge Relay later this month!
